The Lounge Lizards play hot swinging Jazz in a style reminiscent of Django Reinhardt, Stephane Grappelli and the Hot Club of France.
Formed in 2009 by its two guitarists (Rich and Julian ), the band is fronted by singer Rosie whose seductive voice and ability to sing in both English and French accentuate the band's European flavour.
Virtuoso concert violinist Mel epitomises the gypsy sound with her rich tone - and the line-up is completed by the animated whirlwind of Howard on double bass and piano.
They perform hits and show tunes from the 30s and 40s, as made famous by Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Frank Sinatra, etc. in their own inimitable swinging style, as captured in pre-war Parisian dancehalls by Django Reinhardt, Stephane Grappelli and others.
This band have played the last three years' Dartmouth regattas, and also the Dartmouth Cross Channel Regatta, which is bi annual (they played it in 2013 and are booked to do so again in 2015.)
