Leroy Goodman
Act fee up to £499
Leroy's love of music stemmed from a church upbringing and a family that loved music. Growing up in Hertfordshire, he was encouraged to take piano lessons at an early age, which were taken to a high standard and from which he developed a passion for musical instruments and live music.
Another of the catalysts to his musical interests was listening to the radio. This then turned to a desire to own some of the music he heard and this further developed into collating an extensive vinyl record collection. Leroy would travel far and wide to record shops and record fairs to seek out that elusive 7inch or much sought after album.
Live Concerts further enhanced Leroy's love of music, where great efforts were made to see some music icons in action, such as Michael Jackson, Luther Vandross, Diana Ross, Prince and Maze to name a few. To the present day Leroy still appreciates a good live performance.
It was the growing record collection that prompted a friend to request that Leroy DJ at a local house party at the age of 17. From then the enquiries and opportunities grew and Leroy soon invested in a small sound system to play at various local functions. From Disco and Soul, to Hip Hop and R&B, the playlist was wide, but the benchmark was always to keep the entertainment levels high and to keep the audience dancing.
With gigs and parties, came popularity and more chances to network, and Leroy setup his own Sound System, and also started playing on various other Sound Systems mainly in the North London area. This lead to more work and an invitation to host a show on a Pirate Radio station based in North West London, which he managed to squeeze in amongst a day job, DJ bookings and a hectic fitness schedule.
One of the highlights of Leroy's career was to play at Notting Hill Carnival, which was done with a large crew and an incredible Sound System. Although it was hard work, the energy that resonated around the crew and revellers while on the move around the London streets was like no other. This experience also enhanced his philosophy of how powerful the medium of music can be.
Having mastered the art of mixing and having developed great contacts, further work ensued. Leroy started a residency called 'Bank' at a bar called The Bank in Watford. There, Leroy established a regular Friday night jam, playing Funky House. There were also other residencies that followed at a number of bars in the Watford, Luton and London areas.
Leroy has played at some of the biggest clubs in London, including Pacha and Fabric. He has also promoted and played at some high profile corporate events including gigs at the The Saatchi Gallery, The Banqueting House and The Freemasons Hall.
Clients have commented that it is Leroy's smile that gives away his love of life and music, but you will always get great entertainment wherever he is playing. It has been an amazing DJ career so far, and Leroy is always dedicated and ready to grasp the next DJ opportunity.
